Skylight installation

New and replacement skylights, framed and flashed into your roof by a roofing company in Fairfield.

A skylight brings daylight into a hallway, bathroom or upstairs room that doesn't get much of it. It also puts a hole in your roof. That's why the framing and flashing around the skylight matter more than the unit itself. Most skylight leaks come from the flashing, not the glass. We do skylight installation as roofers, so we treat it as roof work first. We cut the opening, frame it into the rafters and set the unit. Then we flash it into the surrounding shingles, metal or other roofing so water sheds around it instead of into it. If you're planning a roof replacement, that's a good time to add a skylight or swap out an old one, since the roofing around it is coming off anyway. To get started, text us at (513) 560-8531. Tell us where you want the skylight and what kind of roof you have. We'll talk it through on the phone, look at the roof and the room below, and give you a quote.

Common questions

Do skylights leak?

A properly flashed skylight shouldn't. Most leaks come from worn seals or flashing that wasn't done right when the skylight went in. We flash every skylight into the roof the same way we would any other opening.

Is it better to add a skylight when I replace my roof?

Usually, yes. The old roofing is already coming off, so the opening and flashing tie straight into the new roof. You end up with one project instead of two.

Can you put a skylight in a metal roof?

Yes. Metal roofing is one of our specialties. Flashing a skylight in metal takes different details than it does in shingles, so we plan for it from the start.
