Siding usually shows wear before anything else on the house does. You might see boards that are soft or swollen at the bottom, paint that won't hold, gaps at the corners, or wood splitting around windows. By then, water may already be getting into the wall behind it. We do siding installations and siding repair. James Hardie siding is one of our specialties, and James Hardie is one of our partners. On a full replacement, we take the old siding off and check the wall underneath. We replace any rotted wood we find before anything new goes up. We can also upgrade the moisture barrier (we've used the Zip System), finish the trim, and handle gutters or roof work on the same job so the edges tie together. Do you install James Hardie siding?
Yes. Hardie is one of our specialties, and James Hardie is one of our partners. It's a fiber cement siding that doesn't rot the way wood does, which matters with Ohio's wet springs and freeze-thaw winters.
Can you repair a few damaged boards instead of re-siding the whole house?
Often, yes, if the rest of the siding is sound and we can match the material. If the damage is spread out or water has gotten behind the siding, replacing it is usually the better call. We'll show you what we see.
What happens if you find rot under the old siding?
We show you what we found and talk it through with you before anything gets covered up. Rotted sheathing gets replaced before the new siding goes on, so you're not putting new siding over a bad wall.
